Truecaller Joins GSMA to Strengthen Global Mobile Security and Caller Identity Standards
Truecaller has joined GSMA as an Industry Member to strengthen global mobile security, caller identity standards, and fraud prevention efforts. With over 500 million active users worldwide, Truecaller will collaborate with operators, regulators, and technology leaders to develop safer communication solutions and improve call authentication standards.
The GSMA is the leading industry association within the mobile ecosystem, bringing together more than 1,200 mobile operators and organisations to promote innovation, establish technical standards, enable interoperability, advocate for policy development, address societal challenges, and serve as the convening body behind the MWC series of events, including MWC Barcelona, recognised as the world’s largest connectivity event.
As a GSMA Member, Truecaller will participate in working groups focused on mobile security, fraud prevention, and caller identity. With more than 500 million active users across Africa, Asia, and other regions, Truecaller brings extensive data-driven insights into spam and fraud patterns at a scale that supports stronger industry-wide solutions.
The company will contribute its expertise to help develop improved standards for call authentication and consumer protection, working alongside mobile operators, regulators, and technology leaders to address the growing global challenge of spam calls and fraudulent communication.
“Joining the GSMA is a natural next step for us as we continue to grow our role in the global mobile ecosystem,” said Kari Krishnamurthy, Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer at Truecaller. “Spam calls and fraud are a global problem that no single company can solve alone. We look forward to collaborating with operators, regulators, and technology leaders to help drive the standards and collective action needed to make every phone call safer.”
Colin Bareham, General Manager, Membership at GSMA, said, “We are pleased to welcome Truecaller as an Industry Member of the GSMA. Industry Members are vital to driving innovation and practical solutions across devices, networks, platforms and services. We look forward to collaborating with the Truecaller team across our programmes and member platforms to accelerate impact for the mobile ecosystem.”
Truecaller has become an essential communication platform for more than 500 million active users worldwide, with over one billion downloads since its launch. The company identified 68 billion spam and fraud calls in 2025 alone. Headquartered in Stockholm, Truecaller has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021.
The GSMA continues to unite the global mobile ecosystem by enabling innovation that supports positive business environments and societal progress. Representing mobile operators, technology organisations, and adjacent industries, the organisation works across three key areas: Connectivity for Good, Industry Services and Solutions, and Outreach. Its initiatives include advancing policy, addressing major societal challenges, supporting mobile technology standards and interoperability, and bringing together the global connectivity community through MWC and M360 events.
Truecaller’s membership in the GSMA highlights the increasing importance of collaborative efforts between technology platforms and the mobile industry to improve digital trust, strengthen fraud prevention measures, and make mobile communication safer for users worldwide.
